Daniel Hauser: Chemotherapy or Natural Healing? May 16
A Minnesota judge has handed down an order stating that a 13 year-old cancer patient should resume medical treatment. Judge John Rosenberg has ordered that Daniel Hauser, 13, should resume medical treatment that is meant to save his life, “despite religious and other objections by his family”.
In a report by Warren Wolfe and Maura Lerner of the Star Tribune, the story of Daniel Hauser comes to light. The 13 year-old boy is suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diagnosed last January. After one round of chemo and radiation therapy, the family chose to substitute treatment with alternative health care, which include herbs and vitamins. Daniel’s family are practicing Catholics but are also members of a Native American Religious Group, the Nemenhah, who advocate natural healing. When they discontinued Daniel’s treatment, his doctors notified child protection officials. County Attorney James Olson petitioned for the intervention of the court.
There are differences in opinion regarding this case, as evidenced by the long line of comments from readers in the Star Tribune feature.
On the one hand, Minnesota laws require parents to provide children with “medically necessary care”, a phrase that Judge Rosenberg reportedly included in his order. On the other hand, people are essentially free to choose the course of treatment that they feel is best for them given their circumstances. The other question is — is a sick thirteen year-old boy perfectly capable of making that choice? Who has the authority to dictate what one should and should not do in cases like this?
According to the family lawyer, Calvin Johnson of Mankato, “The Hausers believe that the injection of chemotherapy into Danny amounts to an assault upon his body, and torture when it occurs over a long period of time”.
It is a dilemma alright, but whether it is a dilemma that we should or should not worry about depends on the person. If you were in the Hauser’s shoes and believed what they believe in, what would you do?

I would move countries to keep that poison from my children. There are other ways to heal that are far better than the conventional route. My next door neighbor cured her cancer with manuka honey. I would use Bob Beck Protocol myself. Check out his videos on google. And I would never let any doctor put those chemicals into me. I have seen to many of my family die from the chemicals. It is a crime against nature what the conventional medicine does to cancer patients.

I think scientificly proven is a bit of an unfounded statement there, isnt it Johnathan? Its proven, i mean there were studies right? they must have proved them, after all, yes, of course. But proven to do what? It is proven to Kill cellular tissue, as most poisons of that type will, and in certain types of tumor, it is proven to reduce tumor size by a statistically significant amount in a statistically significant segment of a test group. Thats it. It does not say it will cure cancer, and most people who undergo chemotherapy die of cancer. There is no garauntee that it will extend the life of the patient, and in some cases it will drasticly reduce it. And that is to say nothing of what is “proven” in the way of some of the worst side effects of any drug still allowed on the market. In essence, all that is proven 100% of the time, is that the outcome will be a crap shoot, and the experience painful and miserable.
In the case of something that benefits a percentage of individual patients, but harms 100% of patients, human judgement must be used to figure out if that particular case would be better served by the application of treatment or not. A child is not a statistic, and neither is any other patient. It might be proven to statistically improve a percentage of patients, but those statistics are only designed to guide the judgement of applicability to the INDIVIDUAL case. This is why, in the US, which is one of the heaviest pro-chemo medical industries in the world, still does not prescribe chemo in 100% of cancer cases. It is only after the consideration of the type and stage of the cancer, as well as the general health and age of the patient that many sufferers of cancer are told by their doctors, that chemo treatment is not advisable, and that they should go home.
In the case of an individual, these choices are recommended by the doctor and the final decision is made by the patient. In the case of a child, who is better able to make these judgements than the parent who knows the child, and is responsible for looking for their well being?
The choice presented isnt between “proven science and voodoo” its between something that may help, with blind luck, but is garanteed to simultaniously create great suffering, and something that may also help, but also, and more importantly to a parent, will not hurt the child.
This decision is to be made as a judgement call, and not by statistical analysis, or it would have to treat every case of gran mal seizures with a hemispherectomy, no matter that the treatment could be as simple as a mild anti convulsant.
It is a parent’s right to do what they think is best for their child, especially when the alternative can be nothing but suffering, and a painfull, hairless, vomiting death.

A parent doesn’t have the right to sentence their illiterate son to death on the basis that he is a “medicine man.” If the parents want to follow some shaman and do all natural healing that is their business, but if they want to kill their child based on ignorance of science then it is the courts business. I believe in natural medicine AND in engineered medicine, but when it comes down to it a parent has no right to let their child die due to negligence.

If that child dies, I hope they sue the State of Minnesota and the judge. We have the right to deny treatment. I too said NO after my first chemo and chose alternative methods. It just doesn’t make sense to do more harm the body, when your body is in a comprised state. By the way: 75% of doctors who get cancer, don’t do chemo-Why? Because they know it doesn’t work!

My grandma had non hodgkins lymphoma stage four, the doctors told her that she had 6-8 weeks to live. That was a year ago. My grandma is completly cancer free. She took 2 chemo. treatments and refused to go back for a 3rd because when she recovered from the treatment she would be right back at the beginning becuase of another treatment. I think that this boy is smart for not wanting chemo. His parents agree with him and i think that the court shouldnt have the right to rule if he has to take it or not. What i know about his case is that he wants to take a natural way. There is a law that doctors CAN NOT give a patient the option of natural way they have to push chemo or radiation. I think that the kid, with his parents should look into natural ways. That is how my grandma got cured of cancer no matter what the doctor says it is the natural way that kept her alive. She got diagnosed with cancer on Dec. 11, 2007. her last chemo treatment was in Jan. of 2008. she took the natural way and still does today but she went to the doctors in early june and they said that it was a miracle that she was alive and COMPLETLY cancer free.

2 of our family members were killed by medical/doctor mistakes in hospital.

Scientifcally proven? Anyone who has studied
this method of “proof” knows how results can be easily skewed and misleading–just look at the “safe” FDA approved drugs that were later yanked off the market because they were UNSAFE.
Natural healing methods often do not have
“scientific” proof simply because there is
no money to be made from these methods, therefore there is no funding to pay for such
studies.

None. No one has ever claimed that chemo cures cancer, or that if Danny Hauser receives chemo that he will not die of cancer.
The choice is not between letting him die, and letting modern medicine cure him, the choice is between searching out alternative treatments that wont harm him, and pumping some of the nastiest toxins ever conceived into his body, which will weaken him considerable and practicaly destroy his immune system, as well as increase his chances of developing OTHER cancers. the last run of chemo gave him a deep vein thrombosis in his arm, which may break free and kill him. I agree medically, that most statistical evidence in this case shows that chemo might increase his chances of living longer than 4 years, but beyond that there is little data, other than how many complication may arrise from the chemo, to say it will do him any good in the long run, and it WILL do him harm, either temporarily, or permenantly, something they rightly feel would be immoral to do to another human being without their consent.

I believe most people who have experienced chemo personally or watched a loved one endure this “treatment” will agree it should never be the first option.
Chemotherapy is not a proven method of reducing or killing cancer. It sucks the quantity and quality of life out of its victim and those close to him.
I had only 55 days with my husband after diagnosis — I would give anything if we had chosen to spend those hours together rather than drug induced and weary. I firmly believe we would have had more time.

I have seen many family members and friends die from being “cured” of cancer by chemo. We are not living in the dark ages, lets wake up and show “Modern Medicine” the light. There are many natural ways to treat cancer without the harsh side effects of chemo. Danny and his family should be allowed their own choice of treatment. It will be discrace to us all as a great nation of great people if we sit back and allow our government to take over our lives in these situations. I believe Danny’s parents love him very much and want the best for him. As all loving parents, we need to stand together and not let this terrible thing happen. Daniel Hauser needs to stay away from Chemo and radiation. Those treatments destroy the immune system, the very thing a cancer patient needs to get well.
I know natural nutrients good rest, and exercise is all people need to get well from anything. I cured my wife and myself of an ecoli kidney infection in just one day by blending (liquidicing) 2 raw garlic gloves in apple juice and drinking it a few times in the day. This would be impossible with antibiotics because they aren’t as strong as garlic once it’s crushed by blending.
Did you know that liquified Asparagus (puree) from a blender taken 4 table spoons in the morning and 4 table spoons at night will cure all kinds of cancer, even Hodgkin’s disease?

Case No. 4, a woman who was troubled for a number of years with skin
cancer. She finally developed different skin cancers which were diagnosed by
asking specialist as advanced…. Within 3 months after starting on asparagus,
her skin specialist said that her skin looked fine and no more skin
lesions. This woman reported that the asparagus therapy also cure her kidney
disease, which started in 1949. She had over 10 operations for kidney stones,
and was receiving government disability payments for an inoperable,
terminal, kidney condition. She attributes the cure of this kidney trouble
entirely to the asparagus. I was not surprised at this result, as `The elements of
materia medica’, edited in 1854 by a Professor at the University of
Pennsylvania , stated that asparagus was used as a popular remedy for kidney
stones. He even referred to experiments, in 1739, on the power of asparagus in
dissolving stones.
We would have other case histories but the medical establishment has
interfered with our obtaining some of the records. I am therefore appealing to
readers to spread this good news and help us to gather a large number of
case histories that will overwhelm the medical skeptics about this
unbelievably simple and natural remedy.
For the treatment, asparagus should be cooked before using, and therefore
canned asparagus is just as good as fresh. I have corresponded with the two
leading canners of asparagus, Green Giant and Stokely, and I am satisfied that
these brands contain no pesticides or preservatives. Place the cooked
asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree, and store in the refrigerator.
Give the patient 4 full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening.

Natural cures actually work. Look at it this way. many people never get cancer. It’s because they are doing something right, you see. Because if she does and if we do then we should quickly appreciate the responsibility that befall this mom on that final day of judgement, for it won’t be by us. Big mistake by the Dr the Judge and Media for having the Hausers in the spotlight. I firmly believe he will re-emerged and cured using natural medicine. This will be bad publicity to conventional crap medicine and their medical industrial complex. Last thing they want to see is Daniel cancer free. Conventional medicine doesn’t cure diseases, they treat/manage them so they can make more and more money out of us. The mother forced her cancer-diagnosed child into a refugee lifestyle stripped away from his family and friends, and took him to a country fraught with high crime rates and poor living conditions.
That puts Daniel in a dangerous situation, FAR more dangerous than what he would have been in had he been ordered to undergo chemo-therapy. Sorry, but despite how noble her intentions may be, it is very clear that she is NOT looking out for the welfare of her son right now. This is why everyone, including the father and members of the Nemenhah belief that are supporting her right to chose what treatment option is best for her son, is pleading for Mrs. Hauser to stop running and come back to MN. They understand the severe risk that she is putting Daniel in and the very damaging consequences her actions could have on everyone involved.
I support the family’s right to choose a viable alternative treatment for their son, but I do not support the child endangerment that the mother is committing right now. If she does not come to her senses and return home, she will lose her son, either to the court’s hands or to God’s.

Why do we allow people to eat bad? Why do we set up McDonald’s in hospitals? We know it is bad for us and makes us fat. Obesity is killing us like cancer. The best part is that we allow people to get so fat in this country (over 500lbs) then we call them disabled and give them money, because they can’t work. There is something you folks need to know about these medical cures. The medical association considers a cancer cured if it stays gone 5 years, but they aren’t broadcasting this. People assume the cancer will stay away forever. A friend of mine just learned that her colen cancer has came back. She thought radiation and chemo would have ended the cancer, but not so. Why would there be any guarantee that the cancer would stay away when chemo and radiation wasn’t connected to the route of the problem? People don’t get cancer because of a chemo or radiation deficiency.
Daniel wants to actually be healed. If he lets the doctors have there way he won’t live a full life. He may even die during the chemo treatments. About 1/2 the people do.
Some people are living the cure by keeping their immune systems up with good thinking and good eating habbits. These people don’t even know they are cured because they haven’t ever had cancer. If some people can be cancer free, then everyone can.
We need to drop the false beliefs that we hang onto. Beliefs like these:
The sun is bad for you. We don’t need to exercise. Milk is a good food. It doesn’t hurt us to repeatedly lose sleep. We don’t need vegetables. Soda pop is good because what the soft drink companies say is truth. They wouldn’t lie to us. Bad emotions don’t hurt anyone like jealousy, envy, hatred, greed, worrying about tomorrow, refined food is okay, etc.
With a change of life style Daniel could live to a ripe old age.

My mother had chemo after having breat cancer removed. They got all the cancer, but the doctor thought she should undergo the chemo anyway, so my mother believed the doctor.
She lived 7 years after that and said “If I had to do it over I would have never started with the Chemo.” The reason she said this is because she was never the same after Chemo. It reduced her. She quickly aged after the treatments.
I don’t think people believe they will get better if they make life changes that will improve their health, because the doctors tell people they won’t get better with anything they can do. They need medically proven treatments. It’s a scam. Medically proven, it’s B.S. People don’t live any longer with chemo and radiation than without it (statistics.) People don’t instantly die with cancer, but have a better quality of life than if they go through the chemo and radiation treatments.
The body will always heal itself if we can step out of the way and ask God to heal us and help ourselves too by making the necessary changes.

Please can someone that knows how to start a email petition do it and put it up on utube so we can pressure the authorities to give him back to his parents and leave them to do what they see befitting for his healthcare in privacy of their own home.

Neither the government nor the doctors should have any right to force anyone to have treatment. Parents should be free to make the same decisions about the life & health of their minor child that they would make for their own lives and health. People have a right even to be wrong! Who among us is so all-knowing that he can say POSITIVELY what the outcome will be in any situation.
And I wish the nay sayers would look up a few thick books on alternative medicine instead of dismissing it all as quackery.

I am very concerned at how the government has been able to interfere with this family and their decision for medical treatment.
I am so sorry this young man has to endure something he does not want, and has yet to be proven effective against cancer.
This is a sad state of affairs.
