Dangers of Second-Hand Smoking November 11
When it comes to the question of smoking, many have accepted the fact that it can lead to various health issues. When it comes to second-hand smoke, however, there are still quite a few who question the dangers that it poses.
The risk of health issues due to second hand smoke have led to the institution of smoking bans in certain areas, not just in the United States but in other countries as well. If you read through various discussion threads and blogs that are scattered every which way around the World Wide Web, you will undoubtedly encounter a strange mix of emotions and opinions, some expressed rather well, while others toe the line towards waging the next world war. Smokers and non-smokers share differing opinions as far as the dangers of smoking and its effects on those who do not smoke, and some are rather vocal about what they think.
Do we dare join in? Maybe so. As someone who at one time did smoke on a regular basis, I have to put in my two cents. Smoking did help quite a bit in some ways at a certain point in my life, but that is not the point we wish to drive at and discuss. The bottom line is that, as a whole, the conclusion that I was able to draw out of the whole experience is that smoking simply is not the right way to go if your goal is to lead a long and healthy life. And it is most certainly not the way to go if your goal is to protect those who are close to you and ensure that they, too, lead long and healthy lives.
Those who are just waking up to this realization may want to try and evaluate exactly how smoking is affecting those around you. One way is by using home testing kits that can detect a person’s exposure level to tobacco products – which means they can also assess exactly how smoking is affecting the people around you. TobacAlert is one such product; incidentally, Testcountry.com, which carries TobacAlert, is dropping the product’s current price to $10.25 (over 35% off) for today only.

Smoke from a hanful of crushed leaves and some paper in a decently ventilated venue is a statistically insignificant health risk

How exactly do these ”test kits” measure the harm exposure to SHS causes to non-smokers? Measuring how much they have been exposed to tobacco smoke does not prove that it is harmful to them. This is like saying that a machine can tell me if I have been exposed to male semen, does that prove that I am pregnant? The jury is still out on the harms of second hand smoke, measuring exposure is as useful as shoveling clouds.
