Joselio Hanson Will be Out 4 Games for Substance Abuse December 20

The Eagles cornerback will have to deal with sitting out the next four games as punishment for violating the substance abuse policy. The team confirmed that he was suspended for the violation. According to David Cornwell, the player’s agent, Hanson felt “bloated” after eating some Chinese food the night before the Eagles’ NFC championship game loss in Arizona last season and took a diuretic to relieve the problem. In his fourth season on the team Hanson will be the first player to be suspended since safety Matt Stevens missed the first four games of the 1997 season. Since Andy Reid the team’s coach took over in 1999 there have been no such violations among the players.
Hanson was the second member of the Eagles’ secondary to leave the team on Wednesday. Ellis Hobbs the team’s cornerback/kickoff returner was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a injury to his neck in a Sunday game loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The Eagles signed on free-agent cornerback Ramzee Robinson and promoted cornerback Jack Ikegwuonu from the practice squad to fill both openings on the 53-man roster for the team.
