Slim-Fast Canned Drinks Recalled! December 5
A blanket recall on all ready-to-drink Slim-Fast canned products has been ordered. The recall is reportedly due to a possible contamination with Bacillus cereus, a bacterium that can lead to diarrhea and nausea or vomiting. It was voluntarily issued by Unilever United States, Inc. as it cooperated with the Food and Drug Administration.
The recall only applied to the ready-to-drink canned drinks; it does not include powdered shakes, meal bars of snack bars.
A news release from Unilever states: “The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,” and that the recall was issued “out of an abundance of caution” based on its quality testing of Slim-Fast ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans.
Since the recall encompasses all ready-to-drink canned products, it includes all canned drinks regardless of flavor, ‘Best By’ date, lot code or UPC number. These products are either sold individually or packed in cartons with four, half a dozen or a dozen steel cans. Each will be marked “11 FL OZ (325 ml)” each.
Those who already have these canned drinks in their pantries at home are encouraged to discard of these products immediately and to call Unilever at 800-896-9479 in order to receive a full refund. The Unilever Consumer Services Center is reportedly open on week days from 8:30 in the morning until 6 in the evening Eastern; callers outside of these days and hours will be able to hear a recorded message.
The company has shared that it is currently looking into locating and addressing the production issue that allowed this contamination to happen. Once the problem has been corrected, production and shipping of the ready-to-drink canned products will resume.

If I have not gotten sick from the one can out of six that I drank would it be safe to say that the rest of the cans are OK to drink?
Thank you,
Kim

Have several six packs of Slimfast, drank one, got diarrhea with cramps and nausea but didn’t go to doctor.
Diarrhea lasted several days, but subsided.
I also have bars. Eight boxes of them. Are they safe? Purchased at Costco and Walmart in CA.
What do we do with product? I want my money back!
