Tiger Woods Drug Scandal: Ambien and Vicodin December 10
Two drugs are being pointed as contributing factors towards the mess that Tiger Woods now finds himself in — Ambien and Vicodin. As the Tiger Woods scandal snowballs, now may be a good time as any to talk about these two drugs and what they can do, in an effort to perhaps prevent the same situation from happening to other people.
Ambien. Ambien’s generic name is zolipidem, and is described as a sedative. Its legitimate use is as a drug that is prescribed to treat insomnia, at least for the short term. Insomnia sufferers who find it difficult to fall or stay asleep find comfort in the drug, which induces relaxation.
There are a number of side effects that an be associated with taking the drug, and one such side effect is having no memory of an activity that one recently engaged in. For instance, one can go as far as driving your car a certain distance but have no recollection whatsoever about having done so. It goes without saying that people who experience this kind of reaction should talk to their doctor so that the latter can explore other treatment options.
People who have taken Ambien have reported doing strange things, proof enough that this is one drug that should not be used outside of the context of a physician-monitored treatment plan. It is, however, being used unofficially as a sort of aphrodisiac, and evidence from the Tiger Woods scandal is the alleged statement issued by one of his mistresses regarding Ambien-assisted moments of intimacy.
Vicodin. Anyone who has ever been victimized by spammers will undoubtedly be familiar with this name. Vicodin is described as a specific brand of narcotic analgesic that contains hydrocodone and paracetamol. Its legitimate use is for relief from moderate to severe pain.
This particular drug, however, makes the rounds of illegitimate Internet-based drugstores – and one is more likely to think that purchases made from these stores are more often than not intended for recreational instead of medicinal purposes. This is largely due to the fact that Vicodin can induce euphoria; it is said that ten percent of high school seniors in America have abused the drug.
