Car Wreck Killed 3, Driver Arrested on Marijuana Possession
The driver involved in a fatal car wreck that left a couple and their son – 42-year old Michael Mulanax, 41 year-old Angela Mulanax and 18 year-old James Mulanax – dead was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana and driving using a cancelled license, according to a report.
The suspect is 20 year-old Steven Wade Jameson. According to the police, Jameson said that the cause of the accident was his turning to look at his dog who was at the back seat of his Hummer. When he turned around, he had already crossed onto oncoming traffic and eventually figured in a head-on collision with a Chevy Cobalt.
After the accident, Jameson was taken to St. John Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he was treated for leg injuries. He was arrested after he was released.
The authorities revealed that they had found a bag of marijuana in the 20 year-old’s vehicle. It also turns out that he was carrying a license that has already been cancelled for “drugs/alcohol under the age of 18”. The fatal car wreck between Jameson and the Mulanax family happened on Christmas Eve.

What a Merry Christmas the dead family will be having thanks to medical marijuana. It is so nice of the advocates to make daily intoxication on drugs a safe and legal way to murder other people by staying stoned while driving and playing with your dog instead of paying attention to the road when operating a vehicle. The family should sue him into the ground where he belongs.

Johnny Law;
Hi Troll DEA staffer/grow-up owner, this happened in Tulsa OK; a state which on its books has some of the toughest laws against marijuana.
Thus it would be the current laws to blame according to your logic. However your thesis is based on your flawed view of the article and you inability to digest the facts.
You lose. Go away.

I apologize for questioning your sound reasoning Mr. Johnny Law, but exactly where in the article did anyone mention Medical Marijuana? Anyone who has ever publicly advocated the legalization of Medical Marijuana condone driving while under the influence of it.
A possibility for you to consider: Maybe you could feel some sympathy for the loss of so many instead of trying to find blame in a scape goat?
Besides, this was obviously the fault of the Hummer manufacturer.

Thanks, apparently you agree with driving while intoxicated and feel glad to assist in the murder of other humans. You’re a real great person pat yourself on the back will ya?

They found marijuana in his vehicle. They didn’t say he was smoking it. It’s amazing how this story is pretty much being blamed on marijuana just because it was in his car. I have marijuana in my car all the time and it doesn’t make me run head on into people. It just comes down to paying attention. Get off the cell phone, put away the book, ignore the dog in the back seat, drop the make-up and drive! If this guy had a closed 12 pack of beer in his car instead of the marijuana, this wouldn’t have made the news.

It’s a simple choice. It honestly doesn’t matter about messages sent to children, making a ‘drug free’ world, saying it’s addictive, ‘what part of illegal don’t you understand’, ‘That’s what we need; more stoned potheads driving down the road’, ‘I don’t want my doctor operating on me while high on pot’, or any other prohibitionists warning of doom through cannabis legalization. Anyone that wants to use cannabis now is using it. Prohibition isn’t stopping anything…except legitimate commerce. Either the drug gangs or the government distributes cannabis. You can argue till you’re blue in the face about why one over the other. The choice is either the distribution is illegal or legal. There’s no middle ground. Wishing cannabis will go away doesn’t work. The truth, however, is this:
1) Cannabis isn’t going anywhere. The country is saturated with cannabis. Seriously. Ask a high school kid how long it takes to get cannabis and how long to get alcohol.
2) Cannabis use has been documented for centuries (about 40 – 45 of them).
3) Cannabis was the most used minor pain medicine until the advent of aspirin in 1899.
4) Cannabis will not kill you unless a ton falls on you from above or a cop shoots you for possession.
5) Cannabis is currently distributed by drug gangs to anyone with cash. No ID and with offers of other more dangerous products. This is why children have an easier access to cannabis than alcohol. Alcohol is ‘distributed’ (read that as ‘regulated’) by the government.
You can only change one of the above. It’s a simple choice…still too hard for ‘ya? It’s number 5. Take cannabis out of the hands of drug gangs and put it into legitimate business enterprises. Don‘t you see, it really is that simple. No they don’t go out of business but they’ll have a huge layoff since they’ll be dealing with a ton or two and not thousands upon thousands of tons. That’s a substantial difference that shouldn’t be discounted by a prohibitionist discussing ‘messages sent’. Oddly enough, the prohibitionist and the drug gangs have the same message…Just say no…to common sense solutions.

Also where does it say he was driving under the influence of cannabis?!?

Every law enforcement officer I have interviewed said almost the same thing, “other than the smell of marijuana the only way they could detect a driver under the influence of marijuana was by looking for drivers that are being a little too careful or driving a little too slow”. Marijuana DOES NOT affect people like alcohol! Many tests have PROVEN that although marijuana users are SLIGHTLY impaired, they adequately compensate by slowing down and being more careful. Marijuana does not cause people drive aggressively or prevent them from staying between the lines like alcohol does. Reaction time is SLIGHTLY slowed but like I said, it has been proven over and over that marijuana users ADEQUATELY COMPENSATE BY BEING MORE CAREFUL. Marijuana more than likely had NOTHING to do with this accident, it was the person NOT THE DRUG. The story NEVER says he was under the influence, it only said it was found in the car! This is just more reefer madness designed to demonize marijuana and keep the criminals gangsters and terrorists funded with hundreds of billions tax free every year. Google “why is marijuana illegal”, 80% of you will favor legalizing marijuana and regulating it like tobacco once you have the honest facts. Google” Just Say Know to the drug war”. There are far better ways to deal with drug addiction and drug use than a war against our own citizens. Law enforcement is completely incapable of handling this issue, they have been trying for almost 100 years and the percentage of drug users has NOT GONE DOWN AT ALL!

CheckTheFacts is completely right.
you cant assume the driver was under the influence of the drug which lead to the crash. read the article! the driver only had possession of the drug and no where did it say he was under the influence of it. and yes it is sad that people had to die, but it is completely ignorant of you to blame the deaths on your assumptions

Once again, our community mourns the senseless death of a young person due to the mixture of alcohol and driving (“Ex-River Hill player charged in fatal DUI,” Nov. 30). Even though we continually try to educate and warn teens about the dangers of drinking and driving, it still remains the leading cause of death for the 15-to-25-year-olds. Every weekend there are parties held where underage drinking occurs and teens begin to play Russian roulette with their lives.
