Doesn’t time seem to go by even faster when you are doing something that you love? That is certainly true for us, as 2009 did seem to go by like a blur. In those 365 days of sharing the latest in testing and other health news, there were a number of stories that definitely stood out. We closed the year reminiscing on these stories and how you, our readers, have responded to them, as we embark on yet another year of swapping information with you.

Tiger WoodsThe story of Tiger Woods certainly took us by surprise, and the same sentiment seems to have been shared by quite a number of readers. However, it was less of the great golfer and more on the two drugs that shared the spotlight as his story unfolded, Ambien and Vicodin, that our readers were most interested in.

Another story that sparked interest was the story of a man who donned a cast made out of cocaine. The man traveled from the Chilean capital of Santiago and was apprehended by police in Spain.

A lot of our readers empathized with 10 year-old Hannah Powell-Auslam when we shared her story of being diagnosed with breast cancer at such an early age.

We then received a slew of comments when we talked about boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr and his call for Olympic-style drug testing to be administered during his then planned bout with Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather Sr. had previously been quoted in an interview that he believed Pacquiao was taking performance-enhancing drugs.

The Apple iPhone proved to be more than just a communication tool, and a few readers had a few good words to put in regarding using the device as a “medical buddy”. At that time, we mentioned apps for blood pressure and monitoring blood sugar. There are also other health-related apps that cover exercising and counting calories.
